Ashes to Ashes
We are gathered here to pay our last respects to the PP (Paranormal Police). The Zoeller's are no longer part of the PP. I took complete control of it. They will tell you, I stole it. But, you can not steal what was never theirs. They, at no time since July 2007, were owners of the yahoo group and never were owners of the website. They were offered to take responsibility, even recently this month, they refused.
I am putting the PP to sleep and laying it to rest, forever. The reason is, quite frankly, it turned into being something that I sincerely felt was creating a war and tearing the community apart. I feel that it was the wrong approach, no matter what good intentions I or others had.
These are problems I found in doing the paranormal police.
1. Targeting individuals, no matter how well intentioned the group is, only leads to targeting back and basically starts an unending feud.
2. Throwing any name up on a public group or forum, leads to being a target where to many are taking pop shots at this person, instead of really being functional in looking for paranormal fraud. People seem to assume that a name mentioned on the board, is actually someone we were calling a fraud.
3. People that see those that were targeted as friends, come to their defense and widen the scope of arguing and fighting. The board then becomes a mass of confusion and fights. Everyone looks bad when this happens... as the public pays no attention to whom is more right then another.
4. The targeting and insults at people in this manner and what happened, is unprofessional and unproductive and frankly, just plain WRONG.
5. A group of people coming together to pick out who are frauds, looks very high handed, egotistical and is not well recieved.
6. People assume, that all actions of all people within a group, are the responsibility of the owner of such an organization or group. However, controlling the situation that works in such a manner is a kin to trying to stop a train.
7. Everyone becomes under suspicion at some point and it tears apart trust. Lines are made at who is acceptable to speak with and associate with, when no one should truly make that determination, nor, pass judgement on others for whom they are connected to, whether in true friendship or just as aquantances for networking.
8. To many people jump to conclusions. Drawing lines that are very thin, or not there at all to say someone is commiting fraud. Believe me, I've heard some whacked explaination of what some consider proof of fraud.
9. Some people thought it was a good way to rip into someone they were upset with.
10. We accomplished nothing that we set out to do.
I'd like to say here, that I actually was away for a few months and came back to all hell breaking loose in the group. I am shocked at how bad it got. I want no part of a group that is reckless, upsets so many, causes a war of feuding and does absolutely nothing positive for the paranormal community.
I saw both sides while I was away... carefully thinking about whether I wanted to be involved anymore. Especially after finding out the truth to the founder. On both sides have good people. There is not one side better then the other. Both sides had some bad too. Reap is not one of them.
I am here, not to make friends... but, to end a long feud, that I am just tired of fighting and now, feel completely different after taking time off and seeing things in a different light.
Now, no matter which side you stood on... you will have to make your own minds up about me. However, I make up my mind how I feel about people on my own. I will no longer be a party to tearing apart what I was trying to protect in the first place.
So, the Paranormal Police is officially dead and put to bed.
